CPT/OPT Workshop for F1 Students

  • Thursday, December 7th | 2:00 p.m. (OPT) / 3:00 p.m. (CPT)
  • Lincoln Hall 1090
  • This 2-part workshop has been designed for all F-1 international students, regardless of program/level of study, undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Students will have the opportunity to meet with advisors from ISSS and learn more about F-1 student work authorization in the US.

Doctoral Dissertation Deposit Deadline

  • Friday, December 1st at 5 p.m. is the last day to complete a dissertation deposit for December 2023 graduation.
  • All corrections and all required deposit materials must be received by the Graduate College no later than 5 p.m. on the day of the deposit deadline.
  • The Thesis Office strongly encourages students to submit the thesis for review several days before the deadline.

  • Sponsored by the Center for Writing Studies' Writers Workshop, this VIRTUAL workshop will help you figure out what your presentation should include, share tips and strategies to engage your audience, and discuss how to present with confidence. 
  • It also will address some technical components of giving presentations, both live and online. 
  • This workshop will be useful to any first-time research presenter, as well as to anyone looking for some general advice about giving great class and conference presentations.

CLIMATE ADAPTATION SCIENTISTS OF TOMORROW PROGRAM (CAST)

  • Informational Webinar:  Thursday, December 7th, 2p.m. 
  • In 2021, the Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASC) established the Climate Adaptation Scientists of Tomorrow (CAST) Program to advance climate science and cultivate the next generation of climate scientists. 
  • The CAST Program is an immersive undergraduate research experience, for TWO summers, that brings undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty together with CASC partners to cultivate the next generation of climate sceintists.
  • Eligibility
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited academic institution (community college, college, or university) in the United States. Participants must be rising sophomores or juniors

KATZ & MANNE RESEARCH INSTITUTE SUMMER SCHOLARS PROGRAM

  • Application Deadline: Friday, January 26th
  • Program Dates: Wednesday, June 17th - Friday, August 9th
  • Eligibility
    • Students who have completed at least their freshman year and are currently enrolled in the Fall 2024 term in continuation of working toward earning an undergraduate degree.
  • The Katz and Manne Research Institute Summer Scholars Program engages undergraduates in research pertaining to pediatric health and disease through the ongoing generosity of the Robert Louis Katz Medical Research Foundation and Manne Research Institute.
  • The 8-week program’s mission, primary focus on advancing children's health and welfare.
  • Summer scholars spend eight weeks working daily with their faculty mentor and research team to learn about conducting scientific research and gain hands-on research experience. 
  • They also participate in a weekly seminar led by various participating faculty members and research education

Navigating American Service Culture: To Tip or Not To Tip?

  •  Most countries have tips either built into the bill or are not expected, however, in the US, it is a common practice; and tipping is necessary as many rely on tips to make their wages.
  • If you are confused like others, come to discuss your experience, and the counseling staff will demystify some myths.

  • Cost of $4,500
  • Experience in Japanese sustainable design and eco-conscious living with Prof. Lindsey Stirek and Sr. Asst. Dean Nicole Turner. Students will visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Kamikatsu, and Yokohama while exploring urban concepts of sustainability, grassroots circular economy initiatives, waste recycling programs, and sustainability initiatives embedded within the traditional arts and culture of Japan.

Ebert Center Screening: The Cult Film Experience

  • The Princess Bride and the Army of Darkness
  • Join the Ebert Center for screenings of The Princess Bride and Army of Darkness. We will kick off the evening with our popular popcorn bar and The Princess Bride at 7:00pm. An intermission of pizza, donuts and movie trivia will commence from 8:45-9:15pm. After trivia prizes are awarded, Army of Darkness will begin at 9:15pm. We hope to see you there!
