UIUC SUMMER INTERNSHIP IN AUTOMATED PLOT ANALYSIS

• The University of Illinois’ Applied Research Institute is pleased to announce a Summer Internship Opportunity to develop Artificial Intelligence tools to automatically extract information from scientific plots.
• This project aims to automate the extraction of information from scientific plots. Much of the information disseminated in scientific papers is embedded in graphs and cannot be readily extracted without manual intervention. 
• We seek to automate this process using AI. The intern will develop code to generate training data and begin to develop the tools and models necessary to extract the relevant information.
• Skill Base required: 
  • Graduate, Junior / Senior undergraduate students in Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, or related programs with a strong academic record.

MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING REU AT UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

• We are inviting undergraduate students to participate in the six open positions for the on-campus and hands-on research experiences in three Materials Science and Engineering labs. Our NSF EFRI collaborative project aims to address the challenges in pharmaceutical processing and personalized medicines, by converging several new breakthroughs in additive manufacturing, molecular and crystallization modeling, surface science and engineering, and patient-specific in vitro disease models.
